OVERVIEW
Abigail was called to the Bar in 2017 and joined Chambers in 2019 upon the successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Alex Greenwood and Lucy Crowther.

Abigail studied Law at the University of Southampton before completing the BPTC at Cardiff Law School, obtaining an Outstanding. Prior to commencing pupillage Abigail worked for a year as a fee earner at a national law firm based in Cardiff carrying out her own litigation work.
Abigail accepts instructions in all Chambers’ practice areas. Abigail regularly prosecutes on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service in a wide range of cases in the Crown Court as a CPS Grade 3 Prosecutor and a member of both the Serious Crime and RASSO Panels. Abigail also prosecutes in a variety of matters on behalf of Local Authorities as well as conducting written advisory work. Abigail undertakes defence work and represents clients in the Crown Court. Her practice also includes representation of interested parties in inquests.

NOTABLE CASES
R v Brown (2024) Bristol Crown Court – Abigail defended the First Defendant in a case involving 9 Defendants who all pleaded guilty to Affray in a football related incident between Cardiff City FC and Newport County FC fans. The sentencing hearing involved submissions opposing the imposition of a Football Banning Order.
R v Jones (2024) Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court – Abigail prosecuted a well-publicised Causing Death by Dangerous Driving sentence.
Operation Dogtail (2024) Cardiff Crown Court – Abigail was led by Lowri Wynn Morgan in a case involving 12 Defendants in a Conspiracy to Convey Articles, including controlled drugs and mobile phones, into a prison.
R v Rowe & Others (2024) Newport Crown Court – Abigail defended the Second Defendant in case involving multiple allegations of Arson with Intent to Endanger Life. The Defendant was involved in a ‘cut-throat’ defence running the defence of Duress as a result of threats by the First Defendant.
R v Thomas, Shaw, Hagans & Seeney (2024) Newport Crown Court – Abigail prosecuted a multi-handed trial involving offences of Aggravated Burglary and Burglary involving the use of machetes and crowbars.
Operation Goldie (2024) Cardiff Crown Court – Abigail was led by Rosamund Rutter in a multi-handed ‘County Lines’ Conspiracy to Supply Class A Drugs trial.
R v Lewis (2023) Swansea Crown Court – Abigail prosecuted on behalf of Neath Port Talbot Council. The Defendant was charged with Supplying an Unsafe Product under the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
Operation Arbus (2023) Cardiff Crown Court – Abigail was led by Christopher Rees KC on behalf of the Prosecution in a 6 month Kidnap, False Imprisonment and Blackmail involving 13 Defendants. The case involved significant amounts of complex evidence including the admissibility of gang evidence, forensics, cell site and vast amounts of telephone evidence and was described as one of the most complicated investigations South Wales Police has ever undertaken.
DW (2022) Gwent Coroners' Court – Abigail represented an interested party (a care worker) at an inquest into the death of a resident in a supported living facility.
R v Paterson (2022) Cardiff Crown Court – Abigail represented an 18 year old male who pleaded guilty to two Robberies both involving the use of a knife. The Defendant had turned 18 since the commission of the offences and detailed submissions were made on his behalf on sentencing principles relating to children and young people.
R v Le, Donovan-Harris & Morgan (2021) Birmingham Crown Court - Abigail was instructed as disclosure counsel in a multi-handed firearm murder involving issues of public interest immunity, the admissibility of anonymous hearsay relied upon by a gang expert and a successful appeal against a terminatory ruling on the application of R v Gnango and R v Jogee.
R v Midgeley McDonald (2020) Leeds Crown Court - Abigail was led by Hashim Salmman in a multi-Defendant case. The defendants were charged with Fraudulent Trading and an offence contrary to the Consumer Protection and Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. The case required consideration of over 35,000 pages of evidence served by the prosecution and involved legal argument relating to the power of the prosecuting authority to issue proceedings.
