Chambers administration is run by three highly experienced Barristers' clerks.

You do not necessarily need to be a solicitor to instruct us (see Direct Access below). Significant time and resources have been invested in restructuring the way we deliver legal services.

We understand that clients want easy access to expert advice and advocacy with clear costings. We provide clients with a range of funding options, including the option of fixed prices (as opposed to charging by the hour) giving budgetary certainty.

To ensure we can provide the best legal advice and advocacy at affordable prices we keep our overheads low. We use effective technology systems to allow our teams to work flexibly and efficiently, we do not have extravagant premises, nor an expensive traditional partner model to support.

We offer:
• Direct access to specialist barristers.
• A dedicated barrister-led team from start to finish.
• Transparent and fixed fee pricing
• A business model concentrated on the customer.
• An attitude focused on addressing your legal requirements not generating unnecessary work and expenditure.

We can help you whether you are charged with a multi-million pound fraud, historic sexual abuse, a trading standards offence, professional discipline offence, trade mark or copyright dispute, through to a motoring offence.

Direct Access
Apex Chambers has specially trained barristers able to work directly with indivuals and companies under the ‘direct access’ rules. This means that in suitable cases you can come directly to a barrister without first needing to instruct a solicitor. However, some cases will require a solicitor to be instructed, for instance in a complex case requiring a lot of evidence gathering and administration. The barrister therefore will choose whether or not to take on a direct access case.

Our barrister-led approach ensures you receive expert legal and tactical input from the start of instruction. When you instruct one of our barristers to help you, the barrister leading your case will put in place a team to give you the service you need. We work with first-rate solicitors and paralegals playing an assistant role. We build our teams around the barrister leading the case. Our attitude puts you at the heart of the process. Benefits include a reduction in costs therefore competitive fees, free estimates in advance, and capped costs in suitable cases.

Typically suitable cases include:

• Motoring offences in the Magistrates’ Court
• Appeals from the Magistrates’ Court
• Pleas and mitigation
• Certain Crown Court cases
• Disciplinary tribunals
• Employment tribunals
• Inquests
• Firearms licensing appeals

For more information about the direct access scheme please view the Bar Standards Board document here.
